Amy Poehler revealed to PEOPLE that one celebrity guest left her particularly starstruck while filming her Good Hang podcast

The comedian shared the revelation while attending The Wall Street Journal’s Innovator Awards, where she received the Comedy Innovator Award, on Oct. 29

Poehler also reflected on interviewing Noah Wyle, who was recently named PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive

Amy Poehler revealed the celebrity guest who left her most starstruck while recording her podcast, Good Hang.

Poehler, 55, caught up with PEOPLE exclusively at the Wall Street Journal’s Innovator Awards — where she received the Comedy Innovator Award — at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City on Oct. 29.

During the conversation, the comedian and award-winning podcaster shared that there was one specific guest who left her in awe.

ā€œI was really starstruck by Paul McCartney, who I got to interview recently. That was a big one for me,ā€ she tells PEOPLE, referring to the Oct. 13 episode in which she spoke with the legendary former Beatle, 84.

As for any other dream interviewees?

ā€œI would’ve loved to have interviewed Dolly [Parton]. Rest in peace,ā€ she shares.

Poehler went on to say that she loves her podcasting job and appreciates each and every one of her guests.

ā€œI feel like I’m always pleasantly and wonderfully surprised by anyone I get to talk to. And it really is just about trying to have a good hang while you’re there. So it’s everybody and anybody,ā€ she says.

The star also dished about her experience interviewing Noah Wyle for her Oct. 27 podcast interview, in which she helped reveal to the world that he was officially selected as PEOPLE Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive.

ā€œI told Noah that I had heard from his reps that he wasn’t going to do my show until he was voted Sexiest Man Alive. So thank you for making that happen. You really gave us an assist,ā€ she jokes.

ā€œNo, it was really fun and we had a fun time laughing about it,ā€ she adds.

During the episode, Poehler jokingly asked The Pitt star and co-creator, 55, how he plans to do things differently from his predecessor, Jonathan Bailey, 2025’s PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive.

ā€œI guess my first question is: Jonathan Bailey was last year. How is your administration going to be different?ā€ she asked Wyle. ā€œWhat are you going to do different than the Bailey administration?ā€

ā€œI’m really disappointed with what was done on the international front,ā€ Wyle joked back. ā€œMy administration is going to really crack down on the borders of beauty.ā€

Looking ahead, Poehler also teased her new series, Dig.

ā€œI am one of a bunch of women who work in an archeological dig, and we had some amazing experts come and talk to us about it,ā€ Poehler tells PEOPLE of the show. ā€œAnd it’s based on a book by Kate Myers, who herself was on an archeological dig. So we were in good hands.ā€

The upcoming series, co-created by Poehler and her former Parks and Recreation collaborator Michael Schur, also stars Hugh Laurie, Geraldine Viswanathan, Antonia Thomas and Fina Strazza. The show is based on Myers’ 2023 novel, Excavations.

Dig premieres on Peacock on Nov. 23.
