- *Yellowstone* spinoff *Dutton Ranch* finds Beth and Rip building a new home (and business) in South Texas.
- Oscar nominees Annette Bening and Ed Harris are among the series' new characters.
- The first two episodes premiere on May 15.
Taylor Sheridan's *Yellowstone* franchise is growing another dusty, sun-kissed arm this month with *Dutton Ranch*, perhaps the most anticipated of the show's many spinoffs.
Why? Well, it centers on two of *Yellowstone*'s most compelling characters: the steely Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and her rough-and-tumble husband Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser). But this new series will find the couple far from the Montana ranch where they locked horns with the late John Dutton (Kevin Costner). Per a synopsis, they'll "collide with brutal new realities and a ruthless rival ranch that will stop at nothing to protect its empire" after uprooting to South Texas with their adopted son, Carter (Finn Little).
Joining them is a new ensemble of allies and adversaries led by Annette Bening and Ed Harris, a pair of Hollywood legends who count nine Oscar nominations between them.

Annette Bening as Beulah Jackson

Annette Bening stars as Beulah Jackson, the powerful (and bedazzled) overseer of a storied ranch in the town of Rio Paloma, Texas. Described by Beth as a "grizzly in Gucci," her ferocity is matched only by her fashion sense.
“To try and find what is underneath all of this need for power and control, for me, is a wonderful acting challenge,” Bening said in a recent interview. “I love that about her, that she is this formidable person within the community, but what I hope I get to explore and what people get to see is the underbelly of this woman, who just like everybody else wants love and connection and to protect her family."
Bening made her film debut in the 1988 John Candy comedy *The Great Outdoors* and went on to work with filmmakers like Stephen Frears (*The Grifters*), Mike Nichols (*Postcards from the Edge, Regarding Henry*), Rob Reiner (*The American President*), and her *Yellowstone* predecessor Kevin Costner (*Open Range*).
In recent years, she starred on Peacock's *Apples Never Fall* (2024) and in Maggie Gyllenhaal's *The Bride!* (2026).
Ed Harris as Everett McKinney

Like Bening's Beulah, Ed Harris is another well-known, longtime resident of Rio Paloma. His Everett McKinney is a local veterinarian (and veteran) who cultivates a bond with Beth as they work to nurse an injured horse back to health.
Harris has been a film and TV fixture for five decades now, with his early roles in George A. Romero's *Knightriders* (1981) and *Creepshow* (1982) paving the way for a storied career that includes work with Jonathan Demme (*Swing Shift*), David Cronenberg (*A History of Violence*), James Cameron (*The Abyss*), Bong Joon-ho (*Snowpiercer*), and Oliver Stone (*Nixon*), among many others. He has four Oscar nominations under his belt for *Apollo 13* (1995), *The Truman Show* (1998), *Pollock* (2000), and *The Hours* (2002).
The 75-year-old actor remains prolific. Over the past decade, he earned an Emmy nod for his supporting turn on HBO's *Westworld*, and appeared in films such as *Top Gun: Maverick* (2022) and* **Love Lies Bleeding* (2023).
Jai Courtney as Rob-Will

Jai Courtney raises hell as Rob-Will, Beulah's hot-headed son whose bad behavior is bad for her business.
“Rob-Will’s in line to take the reins at some point, and the challenge he presents for Beulah is that he’s a bit of a liability, he’s a little unhinged, he can’t necessarily be trusted,” Courtney said in a recent interview. “He’s messy, and that’s not good for a legacy ranching family that has a lot at stake and a lot to preserve.”
The Australian actor cut his teeth on Starz's *Spartacus: Blood and Sand* before starring opposite Bruce Willis in the underwhelming *A Good Day to Die Hard* (2013). He barreled through a few other franchises with roles in *Divergent* (2014), *Terminator Genisys* (2015), and *Suicide Squad* (2016), and poked fun at his macho persona on Netflix's hilarious *Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later*.
In recent years, Courtney has earned acclaim for his turns in the survival thriller *Dangerous Animals* and the Netflix Western *American Primeval*, both released in 2025.

J.R. Villarreal costars on *Dutton Ranch* as Azul, a tough-as-nails whipcord wrangler who links up with Rip in Texas.
A former child actor, Villarreal appeared in episodes of *Without a Trace* and *Cold Case* before landing a role in 2006's *Akeelah and the Bee*. Over the past several years, he has starred in the Disney Channel's *Ultra Violet & Black Scorpion* and Netflix's short-lived *On My Block* spinoff, *Freeridge*.
Most recently, he appeared in several episodes of *Landman*, another hit series co-created by *Yellowstone*'s Taylor Sheridan.
Juan Pablo Raba as Joaquin

Juan Pablo Raba joins *Dutton Ranch* as level-headed fixer Joaquin, an employee of Beulah's who knows how to make problems disappear. It's not a huge spoiler to say he and Courtney's rabble-rousing Rob-Will will cross paths.
The Colombian actor is a telenovela veteran who U.S. audiences will recognize as Joey Gutierrez on *Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.* and Gustavo on *Narcos*. He also helped lead the History Channel's military drama *Six*, starring alongside Barry Sloane and Kyle Schmid.
Natalie Alyn Lind as Oreana

Natalie Alyn Lind, the daughter of *One Tree Hill* star Barbara Alyn Woods, stars as Oreana, a wild child with a complicated family life and a close connection to Finn Little's Carter.
In a recent interview, Lind described her character as "feisty and free-spirited," adding, “She wears her heart on her sleeve... I just love how unpredictable she is. You can never really see her next move coming and she’s not afraid to say what everybody else is thinking.”
The actress enjoyed early success as Dana Caldwell on ABC's *The Goldbergs*, and bounced between a handful of genre series with roles on *Gotham*, *The Gifted*, and *Tell Me a Story.* She also led the 2023 *Pet Sematary* prequel, *Pet Sematary: Bloodlines*.
Marc Menchaca as Zachariah

Marc Menchaca as Zachariah on 'Dutton Ranch'.
Marc Menchaca brings a big heart (and a desire for redemption) to *Dutton Ranch* as Zachariah, an ex-con and God-fearing cowboy whom Rip hires to work at his ranch.
"I did cowboy camp,” the actor told *Us Weekly**,* saying that "the best cowboys I’ve ever worked with” helped teach him the ropes of life on a ranch.
“We started out just riding, and we’d do different exercises," he said. "We ended up driving cattle from pasture to pasture and to the pens. We learned how to cut cattle out.”
The Texas-born actor has dozens of credits to his name, but he's best-known for his roles on *Homeland*, *Ozark*, and the HBO adaptation of Stephen King's *The Outsider*. In 2025, he played a key role on Showtime's *Dexter: Resurrection*.
Where can I watch Dutton Ranch?
