First Lady Melania Trump, The LSU Tigers take on Alabama. November 7, 2026; Baton Rouge, LA, USA; at Tiger Stadium.
Melania Trump attended Saturday’s Alabama-LSU game at Tiger Stadium after announcing a $7.2 million scholarship endowment for young people who have experienced foster care. During the game, LSU featured the FLOTUS on its video board, drawing mixed reactions.
New York Post White House correspondent Emily Goodin described the reception as warm, and a few fans also celebrated her appearance.
However, several fans claimed that the initial cheers were drowned out by boos.
Contradictory Reports Emerge Over Tiger Stadium’s Reaction To Melania Trump’s Appearance
Before the game, Trump was at Patrick F. Taylor Hall to announce a permanent fund for LSU students who came through foster care, part of her “Be Best Fostering the Future” initiative.
Trump stayed for the rivalry game, and her cause followed her into Tiger Stadium, where LSU players wore patches on their jerseys and decals on their helmets for the initiative. When she appeared on the big screen, the stadium introduced her, and what the crowd did next is where her day turned into a debate.

Goodin’s account of the moment was glowing: “First Lady Melania Trump is introduced at the LSU-Alabama game, garnering massive applause as she’s shown on Jumbotron.”
One fan went even further than Goodin, writing, “The stadium ERUPTED when Melania Trump was on the Jumbotron. Everybody loves Melania.”
In a reply addressed to Goodin, this fan wrote, “I’m so happy for her!”

But another fan’s account of the same moment ended differently: “LSU fans give Melania her big-screen moment. Then the boos kicked in.”
That fan then broke it down by the second: “Cheers for about 10 seconds or so… then at 0:16 the booing starts cutting through. They had to turn on the PA to drown it out at 0:23.”
In a reply addressed to that fan, another fan offered just two words: “The curse,” referring to a popular internet superstition claiming that teams, coaches, or games associated with or attended by Donald Trump suffer unexpected losses or bad luck.
And this fan wrote, “The way I sat and didn’t clap for her bc ???”

The Daily Beast reported a similar sequence, saying cheers gave way to booing, and that stadium music was then played, which the outlet interpreted as an apparent attempt to cover the boos.
Trump’s spokesperson, Marc Beckman, denied she was booed. He pointed to the press pool report from her visit as proof and offered a video of his own.
Coming back to the game, Alabama defeated LSU 31-13, overcoming a 457-285 deficit in total yards to secure the Week 10 win. Sophomore QB Keelon Russell threw 3 touchdown passes despite an ankle injury, while LSU struggled on fourth downs, going 0-for-4.
