Katy Perry opens up about her breakup with Orlando Bloom after their nine-year relationship proved challenging for her. While sitting down with People, the Fireworks singer offered a rare insight into how her life turned upside down when they officially split in 2025 after welcoming their daughter, Daisy Dove, in 2020.

The singer shared that life after the break was “really hard,” and her album, 143, was bombarded with criticism, which added to her struggles. But everything’s now sunshine for Perry, as she has found true love with Justin Trudeau.

Katy Perry Says She Has No Regrets About Her Relationship With Orlando Bloom

During an exclusive interview withPeople, Katy Perry admitted that 2025 was “really hard” for her, referring to her breakup with Orlando Bloom. She added that the harsh reception of her album 143 had added to her difficulties, but her tour, The Lifetimes Tour, came during her life’s transitional period.

She continued, “I had to let it go so I could move forward.” Perry discussed with her therapist that she had always wanted an “epic legendary love.” She emphasized, “Everything in my life is epic, but this is kind of the missing puzzle piece — then it showed up,” referring to her newfoundromance with Justin Trudeau.

However, being on the Lifetimes Tour was “probably the hardest time for her” because in July 2025, Bloom confirmed that he had parted ways with the Dark Horse singer. Perry explained that all of her friends were back home and she was “crying and just feeling far away,” calling it her life’s lowest point.

“But then my angels went to work. They really showed up,” she said. “I got to meet Justin on tour, and then things shifted.” In the interview, Perry explained that she “wouldn’t have stayed in something for nine years if there wasn’t really important things to learn.” She remarked, “Each relationship is a teacher, right?”

In a July 2026 interview with Radar Online, she had said that her breakup with Bloom had pushed her to the brink emotionally. “I was just like, ‘Holy [expletive], this is really intense. Is a person really supposed to feel all this and/or absorb all this?’” Perry asked.

During the premiere, the International Smile singer shared that her relationship with the former Canadian prime minister has made her a “more grounded person” in different aspects of her life.

“I am very in love. And actually, that show was after I met the love of my life and so I felt very anchored by that because I’m a little bit like a rainbow kite,” she continued. “I fly super high and touch the veil … cosmos … and sometimes I need to be anchored. So, to have that anchor finally makes me feel really whole now.”

In another interview with People (via Elle), Katy Perry said that after meeting Trudeau on her tour, “things shifted.” By August 2025, she had written a list of things she was manifesting, “No. 10 just says, ‘True Love.’ And I think that’s where we’re at.”
