Beauty founder Chriselle Lim had a meaningful — and glamorous! — night out at the the 2026 Asian American Foundation (TAAF) Heritage Month Summit and Celebration in New York City.

On Thursday, May 14, Lim stepped out in a custom Joe Ando-Hirsh gown for the annual event. "I love TAAF because they are bringing two very different experiences which is being Asian and American in to one and that's what they represent," Lim tells PEOPLE. "Being Asian and American is a layered experience, so bringing that into an organization and celebrating everything that comes within it is very important as that's my personal story as well. "

"I am most excited to catch up with my panelists," Lim tells PEOPLE. Summit speakers included Harry Shum Jr. and Isa Briones. "We had a really great chat this morning, they are all so inspiring."

For the evening, Lim layered PHLUR's Father Figure perfume with Beach Skin Shimmering Body Oil. "I love how they pair because of the woody base they have but are also fresh, airy, easy to wear and dries down woody and sexy," she says.

A Moment for the Dress

"We chatted about his ideas and elements I wanted to incorporate," Lim tells PEOPLE of working with Ando-Hirsh. For example, he had a very specific look he wanted to accomplish and I wanted to bring some sexiness and glamour, so it was very much a collaboration of ideas, which was very fun."

She adds, "I asked Joe if we could add a nice big slit to the dress to show my legs and keep it very modern and sexy. It's actually a very easy dress being that it is silk and it lays very nicely, plus its very comfortable."

It's All in the Details

The shoulders of Lim's custom gown were inspired by origami. "I think Joe is very inspired by certain fabrics and textures and really wanted to use this fabric, so he came up with this idea of a very strong shoulder," she tells PEOPLE. " I have never worn origami shaped shoulders, so I found this a very fun take on my typical shoulder padded blazers."

When it comes to party dressing, Lim says, "You should feel and look as great as the photo represents. Don't wear pieces out that only look good on photos but are not comfortable, because you'll hate how you feel in it and won't have a good experience in that piece."
