Jamie Lee Curtis has spoken out about her relationship with Rob Reiner's two children, Romy and Jake.
Rob was killed alongside his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, in their Los Angeles home on December 14. Their son, Nick Reiner, has been charged with their murders and was arrested hours after the couple's bodies were found.
Nick has been indicted on two counts of first-degree murder, and the indictment includes a special circumstance allegation of "lying in wait," which means prosecutors argue he premeditated the attack and ambushed his parents. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges and is currently being held without bail.

However, despite the charges, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced that after consulting with Nick's surviving siblings, the state will not seek the death penalty. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Ahead of the trial, which is expected to begin next year, actress Jamie Lee Curtis has addressed her relationship with Romy and Jake Reiner.

Speaking to Extra on November 5, the Hollywood star explained that she is "much closer" to Romy and Jake after their parents' deaths.

"Of course, I mean, we are family," Jamie said. "Something like this brings people so much closer. Like Jake and I were sitting shoulder-to-shoulder doing an interview... and just feeling him there is emotional, and then of course him talking about his parents and their fantastic relationship."
Jamie and Rob were friends for years, and the late director served as best man to the actress and her husband, Christopher Guest, when they wed at Rob's home in 1984.
Moreover, Rob was named the godfather to Jamie and Christopher's daughter, Annie. Later, when Michele married Rob, they both stepped into the role of Annie's godparents.
Jamie also paid tribute to her friends at the 2026 Emmy Awards, when she took the stage during the In Memoriam segment to deliver a tearful, heartfelt tribute to the legendary filmmaker.

During the segment, she celebrated Rob's posthumous win for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his performance in The Bear. This win saw him beat his father's record of the longest gap between winning acting Emmys. Rob's gap was 48 years, while his dad, Carl Reiner, had a gap of 37 years.
Finally, beyond Hollywood, the connection between Rob and Jamie remains tied to philanthropy, as Rob and Michele originally introduced the star to the Children's Institute, a prominent Los Angeles family agency run by Michele's sister.
On Sunday, November 8, Curtis is being recognized at the organization's gala as the inaugural recipient of the Michele and Rob Reiner Champion for Change Award, a tribute presented to her by Rob's son, Jake Reiner, to carry their parents' spirit of love and service forward.
