Sean Ono Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl have named their son Aurelius

John Lennon’s first grandchild has been born.

Sean Ono Lennon, the son of the Beatles musician and Yoko Ono, announced the birth of his son Aurelius with his partner Charlotte Kemp Muhl in a post on social media.

In the post, Ono Lennon, 50, wrote: “Okay so... Charlotte and I would like to announce that we have indeed created a Human Bean! His name is, Aurelius! Thank you!” The couple also posted a photo of themselves holding the infant.

Ono Lennon shared an additional photo of Kemp Muhl, 39, in a hospital bed after she had given birth, and wrote: “Baby Momma!”

Kemp Muhl, a musician and model, also shared several pictures of herself with the baby, and wrote: “We made a human! Am convinced DNA is agentic alien quaternary code. The sleep deprivation only adds to the surrealism... Burping technique tips welcome. Been playing him Aphex Twin and Stravinsky. Meconium is crazy.”

Ono Lennon and Kemp Muhl met at the Coachella festival in 2005 and have worked on several musical projects together. In 2008 they formed a band called The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger.

Ono Lennon has been a member of several bands during his career, including Cibo Matto, The Claypool Lennon Delirium, and his parents’ group, Plastic Ono Band. He has also released three solo albums: Into the Sun (1998), Friendly Fire (2006), and Asterisms (2024).

John Lennon, who married his second wife Ono in 1969 before leaving The Beatles later that year, had another son, Julian Lennon, who does not have children. He revealed that his father’s relationship with his mother, Cynthia Lennon, had made him reluctant to start a family, telling Record Collector magazine: “He was young and didn’t know what the hell he was doing. That’s the reason I haven’t had children yet.”

After the break-up of The Beatles in 1970, John Lennon released 11 studio albums under his own name, with Ono, and with Plastic Ono Band.

He was shot and killed by Mark David Chapman in December 1980.
