Kate Middleton has kickstarted the second day of her two-day visit to Reggio Emilia, Italy.

The Princess of Wales is undertaking the visit on a fact-finding mission for her work with early childhood development—often called her life’s work.

On May 14, the future queen rewore a blazer with a deeply meaningful backstory.

For those who spend their days analyzing Kate Middleton’s fashion (guilty as charged), there is often a deeper meaning to be found in nearly every ensemble.

Such was the case as the Princess of Wales stepped out for the second day of her two-day visit to Reggio Emilia, Italy on May 14, where she wore a blazer not just from an Italian brand, but one that connected back to one of the most moving images of the future queen—one taken as she was undergoing cancer treatment in 2024.

On Thursday, while out in nature with children, Kate wore the same gray pinstripe Blazé Milano blazer that she last wore in June 2024 in images shot by photographer Matt Porteous. At the time, the Princess of Wales—who had just announced her cancer diagnosis three months prior, in March—was updating the public about her health, sharing that she would be attending Trooping the Colour, which marked her first public appearance of 2024.

“I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty,” she wrote at the time. “Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal.”

Kate completed chemotherapy treatment in September 2024 and announced in January 2025 that she is in remission. In addition to the poignant full circle nod to how far she’s come in her recovery—the Italy trip marks her first official international visit since before her diagnosis—Kate wore an off-white pleated skirt cinched at the waist with a belt, a matching cream T-shirt, and capped flats by Camilla Elphick, which she’d previously worn to a royal engagement in 2022.

The Princess of Wales accessorized with earrings and a necklace by favorite brand Kiki McDonough, which was just granted a prestigious royal warrant earlier this year by Queen Camilla. Her candy green amethyst and diamond pendant necklace paired perfectly with earrings in the same shade. She also wore a Cartier Ballon Bleu Stainless Steel Watch and an Atelier Molayem bracelet, per Marie Claire.

On Thursday, Kate kickstarted her day by meeting children and staff from the Salvador Allende preschool to observe nature-based learning. The princess has been open about how nature has played an important part in her cancer recovery, and, in true relatable form, Kate even held reptiles discovered by the group on their outing.

Later today, Kate will head into the hills nearby Reggio Emilia to learn about traditional cooking with local families, per The Times. While there, the Princess of Wales will be shown how to make pasta.

While on her first day in Italy on May 13, Kate said, “I’ve been meaning to come for quite some time, so to be here now is very exciting” (per People). The Princess of Wales greeted many in the large crowd gathered to meet her, speaking Italian and introducing herself as Caterina.

“This is an important step in her journey,” an aide said of the Italy visit, per Hello!. “It’s a global mission. She wants to look at other models around the world and really create a global conversation.”
