Family aside, Travis Scott was clearly rooting for *Sinners* at the 2026 Oscars.

Scott shared an image of the film’s star Michael B. Jordan tearing up while holding his Oscar on Instagram Stories Sunday after he won Best Actor over ex Kylie Jenner’s boyfriend Timothée Chalamet. Scott also posted a photo of now Oscar-winning *Sinners* writer-director Ryan Coogler.

Scott shares two children, Stormi and Aire, with Jenner, whom he dated off and on from 2017 to 2023. Months after their split, she began romancing Chalamet. (In an interview with *WSJ Magazine* that year, Jenner said they were doing “the best job that we can do” coparenting.)

*Marty Supreme* star Chalamet was up for Best Actor alongside Jordan, Leonardo DiCaprio, Wagner Moura, and Ethan Hawke on Sunday and was a presumed frontrunner, despite a clip in which he insulted the opera and ballet communities going viral amid the end of Oscar voting.

During his *Variety* and CNN town hall with Matthew McConaughey in mid-February, Chalamet weighed in on the obstacles various art forms face in modern times.

"I don't want to be working in ballet or opera, or you know, things where it's like, 'Hey, keep this thing alive,' even though it's like, no one cares about this anymore,” he said while discussing the movie theater experience.

The actor earned laughs from McConaughey and the audience, admitting he didn’t know how his thoughts might land. (His grandmother, mother, and sister all danced with the New York City Ballet.)

"All respect to the ballet and opera people out there," Chalamet added, joking, "I just lost 14 cents in viewership. I just took shots for no reason."

Those shots landed Chalamet in hot water among the artistic community. And, expectedly, he was scrutinized for his words during the Oscars broadcast.

"Security is extremely tight tonight. Just gotta mention that," host Conan O'Brien said at the top of the show. “I’m told there's concerns about attacks from both the opera and ballet communities.”

The camera showed Chalamet and his date Jenner laughing at the bit before O’Brien added, "They're just mad you left out jazz!"

In a more poignant clapback to Chalamet, ballerina Misty Copeland came out of retirement to join the cast and songwriters of *Sinners* in a moving performance of "I Lied to You" during the ceremony.

And *Two People Exchanging Saliva *co*-*director Alexandre Singh also addressed Chalamet’s comments when he took the stage to accept his Oscar for Best Live Action Short.

“That is why we make films, isn’t it? Because we believe that art can change people’s souls. Maybe it takes 10 year’s time,” Singh said, “but we can change society through art, through creativity —through theater and ballet — and also cinema. Thank you so much.”
