Trans actress and author Jesse James Rose says the late Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., paid her for sex when she was a pre-transition college student, according to a viral Instagram post published Sunday, a day after Graham’s death.

Graham, 71, died Saturday night, reportedly of an aortic dissection. He was one of the most recognizable politicians, having served in the Senate since 2003 and chaired the Senate Budget Committee.

He ran against Donald Trump in the 2016 Republican presidential primary before becoming one of Trump’s closest allies in the Senate.

Rose, in a post captioned “Eulogy for a Horny Hypocrite,” wrote that Graham paid her “a fat stack of cash to do unspeakable things” in a hotel room, where she said he wore lingerie.

She wrote she did not know Graham’s identity at the time of the alleged encounters and said she learned who he was after other sex workers began using a nickname for him that circulated in Washington.

“You loved every second of our time together, and now everyone knows,” Rose wrote in the post.

Rose is not the first person to allege a paid sexual relationship with Graham. In 2020, adult performer Sean Harding wrote on Twitter that an unnamed Republican senator known by the nickname “LG” had hired him and other gay sex workers, according to LGBTQ Nation.

Social media users at the time connected the claim to Graham, though Harding did not name him directly.

Conservative activist Laura Loomer testified in a 2025 deposition that she had heard from Trump staff members that Graham was gay, according to SoapCentral.

Graham repeatedly denied being gay throughout his three-decade political career amid recurring rumors about his sexuality, according to the Advocate.

During his time in the Senate, Graham opposed same-sex marriage and the 2011 repeal of the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy that barred military service members from disclosing their sexual orientation, according to the Advocate.

He also opposed the Respect for Marriage Act, opposed transgender athletes’ participation in school sports and voted against workplace discrimination protections for LGBTQ+ people. He sponsored the EARN IT Act, 2020 legislation targeting online sex work.

Rose is a New York University graduate with a degree in music theater and child and adolescent mental health studies, according to the Advocate.

She is the author of the memoir “Sorry I Keep Crying During Sex” and has appeared in the short film “Never Let Me Go.”

She was the first openly non-binary performer to play the lead in a stage production of “Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” according to SoapCentral. She also works as a union organizer in New York City.
