As Olivia Rodrigo gears up to release her third album, the singer gave her first major interview on the project, telling British Vogue it would be full of āsad love songs.ā She avoided giving an update on her relationship status with Louis Partridge, choosing instead to let her music speak for it. She did, however, discuss her bond with Sabrina Carpenter years after the ādrivers licenseā drama and the reality of dating as a celebrity.
Over a year after a video of Carpenter and Rodrigo hugging at the 2025 Grammys made headlines, Rodrigo revealed theyāre very supportive of each other. āI think sheās great,ā she said. āIām so happy for all of her success too. I love the album sheās put out.ā She acknowledged when it comes to their relationship, āpeople just get weird and clickbaityāitās all love, though. Iāve talked to her many times.ā
Rodrigo really opened up about her experience dating since becoming famous in her teens. When asked if she was thinking of marriage, the 23-year-old star replied, āOh my gosh, long way from that, for sure!ā

She added, āI hope that young girls know that life is full of so much joy that is unrelated to a husband or kids. But, uhā¦that being said, I want to be a mom more than anything. I already feel like Iāve done a lot in my career that Iāve wanted to do and feel more mature for my age than maybe I should. So I donāt knowā¦ā
Dating since becoming famous has had its challenges, she admitted: āI felt I didnāt randomly run into people. Iām working in the studio with my producer all dayā¦Iām more precocious with workāI had a lot of responsibilities [early]ābut in stuff like dating Iām still really young and learning.ā
She revealed she tried Raya for a month after she released Sour but abandoned it after one date. āI was like, āWow, never again. It was just so bad,āā she recalled. āI didnāt even see anyone cool! I thought I would see, like, ooh, some really hot actor guy. I donāt even know any of these peopleā¦Itās [always] some weird ācreative director.ā Like, you just donāt have a job.ā
From there, she decided to slide into peopleās DMs āsometimes,ā she said, admitting, āI had a pretty high success rate at the time⦠But what does success mean? Going on a date? Sure. Were they good? No! Itās so cringe thinking about my younger self dating. I just want to grab my shoulders. Like, āGirl, what? What are you doing?!āā
She added sheās not a big fan of situationships, saying more broadly of herself, āIām definitely a lover girl. Like, I want to be in something committed and so in love. And yeah, itās hard these days.ā
