Prince Harry has been one of the most talked-about royals, who is widely seen as devoted to his wife and two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. But one of his close friends said that trait can sometimes be a little frustrating, especially during a night out.
His close friend also shared some interesting bits about their friendship, even recalling an incident or two during their time in the British military. His revelation thus offered a different glimpse of the Duke’s personality, which otherwise remained unknown to his fans.
JJ Chalmers Complains About Prince Harry’s ‘Prying Eyes’ During Night Outs
On July 13, Prince Harry appeared as a guest on the Joe Marler Will See You Now podcast to discuss children’s resilience, trauma and coping mechanisms. They were later joined by JJ Chalmers, one of Prince Harry’s close friends and an Invictus Games competitor, who was asked about his friend’s “annoying” habits.
Jake Bhardwaj, the co-host of the podcast, asked, “Very quick fire. What’s the thing he does that gets most on your tears?” Chalmers joked, “So, he leaves the toilet seat up, and he never puts the lid back.” The comments left Joe Marler astounded, saying, “Good. Great. Good.”
While JJ Chalmers gave the question a thought, Harry chimed in, “By the way, it doesn’t have to be anything.” He replied, “I can’t say nothing,” leaving everyone laughing aloud. Bhardwaj asked a follow-up question on what a night out with the Duke of Sussex is like.
“We’ve never had big, big sessions. You’re always on your best behavior. A lot of the time when we’re out, it’s like an Invictus Gala, or it’s like some sort of thing,” Chalmers shared. “And we’re in the corner, the lads, because you know, you get a bunch of veterans together, and you’re sometimes like a parent, really. You have to sort of look out.”
The 41-year-old justified that he wants his friend to have their “own fun,” but he comes with “extra prying eyes.” JJ Chalmers quipped, “And that, for the record, that’s not on you personally. That’s the annoying bit.”

He continued that, although Harry is “lovely” to be with and gives everybody his time, he can also bring the evening to an end. Joe Marler then asked Chalmers, “When was the last time he [expletive] himself?” referring to Prince Harry soiling his trousers.
The 39-year-old recalled a time when they served in the army together. The Duke of Sussex explained that it was because he never went to the jungle, and then claimed Marler asked him the question because he had soiled his pants on multiple occasions. “Yeah, I have,” said a flustered Joe Marler.
Prince Harry Reveals the Habit That Annoys Meghan Markle
Prince Harry has another ‘annoying’ habit which has made his wife, Meghan Markle, call him out on numerous occasions. During a segment at the 2018 BBC One documentary Prince, Son and Heir: Charles at 70 (via People), Prince Harry said alongside Prince William, “He’s a stickler for turning lights off. And that’s now something that I’m obsessed with as well.”
William added, “I know, I’ve got serious OCD on light switches now, which is terrible.” The Duke of Sussex stated that Markle has caught on to his father’s habit during their stay at the cottage in Kensington Palace. He added, “Which is insane because – I don’t know whether your wife doesn’t – my wife certainly goes, ‘Well, why turn the lights off? You know, it’s dark.’ I go, ‘We only need one light, we don’t need like six.’”
He believed that this could be one small habit everyone could adopt. “And I think it’s one of the key lessons that he taught us,” he concluded.
