Donald Trump's popular 1988 interview on The Oprah Winfrey Show reportedly showed him less tanned, with a more natural skin tone compared to the darker tone that has currently become his trademark. In the old clip, his face didn't carry the orange shade that later defined his public image during his political career.

People who see Trump's orange-tinted skin usually think that it came from the heavy usage of self-tanning products, while others believe that he eats large amounts of carrots. In the old footage, one guy has even commented that Trump has ripened into an orange wonderfully.

Elizabeth Siegel had written on Allure that if Trump had eaten around 16,000 carrots over the past 15 years, the amount could have been enough to give his skin the distinct orange glow often linked to him.

Donald Trump looked less tanned in the 1988 Oprah clip

The long-lost video of Trump appearing on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 1988is tearing up the internet. In the show, Oprah asked whether he might run for president. Trump replied that he would never want to rule it out totally because he was really tired of seeing what was happening to America. In that footage, he didn't look orange-toned compared to his appearance in a current video as revealed by Inside Edition.

Inside Edition compared both videos and revealed that Trump looked more orange than the previous one. After watching the video, one person said,

"This guy has ripened into an orange wonderfully."

Allure mentioned that Trump's tan has often been compared to fruits and vegetables. In 2016 Halloween, people created "Trumpkins," also called "Trump pumpkins," and the concept became a popular decoration. They were described as the perfect prop for frightening neighborhood children and keeping them away for a long time.

Trump was compared to carrots

Almost ten years ago on Jimmy Kimmel Live, three kids named Quinn, Raniya, and Franki were being interviewed about America's presidential nominees. They were given two options: Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. Kimmel asked,

"What vegetable do the candidates remind you of?"

Raniya laughed and said,

"He reminds me of a carrot."

Raniya compared Trump with a carrot, while Franki compared Clinton with an onion. Kimmel then asked the group to select a candidate who they wanted to eat. All three participants responded simultaneously that they would eat a carrot. Quinn explained his choice by stating that he preferred the carrot because onions taste too strong when eaten alone.
