Reese Witherspoon recently appeared on Dax Shepard's podcast, offering a rare glimpse into her close friend and The Morning Show co-star Jennifer Aniston's connections with her former partners, including Brad Pitt.

During a conversation about public perception of Aniston, Witherspoon revealed she has been moved to tears while defending her friend against assumptions regarding her private life. "I've cried in one of our interviews 'cause I was like, I just think people are so unfair sometimes. That they think they know her and make assumptions," Witherspoon said.

Shepard concurred, suggesting that people frequently hold a particular image of Aniston in their minds. "Well, they want her to play a certain character they've designed and any deviation from that cannot be computed," he said. The appearance followed Anniston's new beau being spotted with a walking stick.

After that, Shepard then tackled one of the most persistent storylines involving Aniston and her ex-husband Pitt. "She's not pining for Brad," Shepard said. Witherspoon concurred and pointed to Aniston's 50th birthday celebration as evidence of the type of individual she believes her friend truly is.

"By the way, at her 50th birthday, one of the biggest testaments I can say to what a wonderful person she is," Witherspoon said.

"People from her teenage years, people in her 20s, people who work in her home, every ex-husband, ex-boyfriend was there," she continued. "She just is like a high spiritual integrity person."

"She's not a burner of bridges," Shepard emphasized. "Correct," Witherspoon confirmed.

Aniston's 50th birthday party occurred in February 2019 at the Sunset Tower Hotel in Los Angeles and drew an extensive roster of celebrity attendees. Pitt was also said to have been present at the celebration, which naturally reignited speculation about the former couple's connection.

Aniston and Pitt started dating in 1998 and made their red carpet debut as a couple at the 1999 Emmy Awards. They tied the knot in 2000 before parting ways in 2005, with their breakup becoming among Hollywood's most publicized celebrity events of that era.

Despite ending their marriage, Aniston has maintained an amicable relationship with Pitt, something Witherspoon highlighted as further evidence of her friend's character. "She's always been really lovely and nurturing and warm and friendly and kind," Witherspoon added.

Witherspoon's remarks came as Aniston made her relationship with her new boyfriend, Jim Curtis, Instagram-official. The actress posted a black-and-white photo of the couple embracing with her more than 44.6 million followers and called Curtis "my love." The post read, "Happy birthday my love. Cherished."

Meanwhile, Witherspoon and Aniston are gearing up to return for the fifth and final season of The Morning Show. Apple TV revealed on Thursday, July 23, that season five of the series will debut in 2027 and will mark the show's concluding chapter.

Aniston and Witherspoon will reprise their roles as Alex Levy and Bradley Jackson, respectively, alongside Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, Nicole Beharie and Jon Hamm. The concluding season will also introduce several fresh additions, including Jeff Daniels, Reneé Rapp, Jesse Williams, Sean Hayes and Lizzy Caplan, with additional cast announcements anticipated.

Aniston, 57, who also serves as an executive producer on the series, revealed she was aware season five would be the finale when filming commenced.

"Going in knowing it would be our last, we were so fortunate to craft the conclusion with intentionality, and honor these characters the way they deserve," she said. "It's been such a privilege to work with this insanely talented cast, and our extraordinary writers, producers and crew. We've become such a family, and we're all so excited to share this final season."

Witherspoon, 50, who also holds an executive producer role, described her nine years on the series as "the honor of a lifetime."
