Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe came together to celebrate their son Deacon's graduation from New York University.

The former couple were spotted with their 22-year-old son in photos obtained by PEOPLE during his graduation ceremony on Tuesday, which took place at Radio City Music Hall.

Ryan posted photos of their son on his Instagram story, sharing a glimpse of the ceremony along with a photo of Deacon in his graduation robes with the text "The Graduate" underneath.

Like his parents, Deacon is pursuing a career in the entertainment industry, beginning with work as a music producer. He released a single, "Long Run," in 2020, and has since followed up with his 2023 debut album, *A New Earth. *Deacon has also taken a stab at acting, appearing in the third season of Netflix's hit teen series *Never Have I Ever*.

To celebrate the release of his album, the budding creative opened up about his passion for music in an Instagram post.

"All I can say is that it came from pure love, for what I do and for the people that listen," Deacon wrote. "This is a story of my life, our lives, and of love and life in general; it carries thoughts and emotions that I’ve accumulated, felt, observed, bottled up, and dealt with through the last 19 years of my life."

"It’s about learning to look through the lens of love," he continued. "I’ve finally found a reason why people should listen, and it’s bigger than me. This project was created in my dorm, made by three college kids with big dreams and bigger hearts. I love you boys."

Reese and Ryan share two children together, Ava, 26, and Deacon, 22. The former couple wed in 1999, and finalized their divorce in 2008. Since their split, the former couple has celebrated several milestones with their kids.

For Deacon's 18th birthday, Reese and Ryan both shared heartfelt Instagram tributes to their son.

"Happy 18th birthday to our gorgeous, smart, talented, and caring son," Ryan wrote. "You are a true light in this world and are so loved by all who know you. We are lucky to be your mom and dad. Love you, pup..(I'd say we did pretty good @reesewitherspoon)."

The *Morning Show* star posted a slideshow of her musician son, while writing "How did this happen?!! @deaconphillippe is 18?!! One day he was trading Pokémon cards, singing Bruno Mars songs, and playing American Ninja Warrior in the backyard."

"The next day, he is taller than me, cooking the family steaks on the grill and making his own music with his best friends," she continued. "My heart is bursting with pride about the young man he is becoming. Happy 18th Birthday Deacon! I love you to the moon around the sun and all the stars ✨ 🥺❤️🎂."
