Sarah Michelle Gellar told PEOPLE in an exclusive interview that she’s an “advocate” for the next generation of actresses

Gellar, 48, revealed her advice at the world premiere of Ready or Not 2: Here I Come during the 2026 SXSW Film Festival

Sarah Michelle Gellar is sharing her wisdom with the next generation.

The actress, 48, shared the advice she gives to younger women who work on projects with her while speaking with PEOPLE in an exclusive conversation at the world premiere of Ready or Not 2: Here I Come during the 2026 SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas, on March 13.

“I just want them to know that I’m an advocate for them and that I’m a sounding board, and what they’re going through, I’ve probably seen it, been through it,” said the Buffy the Vampire Slayer star.

Gellar continued, “I’m always here to support and to help, and I didn’t necessarily have that when I was coming up … I just really want them to feel in a space where they feel safe and they feel heard.”

Among the women on set with Gellar on her latest project, Ready or Not 2, were costars Samara Weaving, 34, and Kathryn Newton, 29.

Newton previously expressed her excitement about working with Gellar.

In the film, a sequel to the 2019 survive-the-night horror hit Ready or Not, Gellar and Shawn Hatosy play Ursula and Titus Danforth, whom Searchlight Pictures have described as “tasty villains.”

Weaving returns as protagonist Grace MacCaullay, while Newton joins the franchise as Grace’s estranged younger sister, Faith MacCaullay.

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come — also starring Elijah Wood, David Cronenberg and Néstor Carbonell — premiered in theaters on March 20.
