The MCU’s upcoming X-Men reboot could bring several classic mutants into a new era. Iceman is among the characters fans could see return, with Bobby Drake remaining one of the franchise’s most popular mutants. While Marvel has yet to announce its new Iceman, a rising actor has already revealed his hopes of taking on the role.

Garrett Wareing wants to play the mutant in the MCU. On the Spirit Awards red carpet, the actor talked about his dream hero. “I wanna play Bobby, Iceman, so badly. That’s what I’m hoping for,” Wareing said, according to Collider.

Wareing is currently receiving attention for his role as Stebbins in The Long Walk. Directed by Francis Lawrence, it is an adaptation of Stephen King’s novel. He is also known for his roles in Ransom Canyon, Manifest, Boychoir, Independence Day: Resurgence, and Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists.

Iceman would be a major Marvel role for Wareing. Bobby Drake is one of the original X-Men characters and has the mutant ability to create, control, and manipulate ice. His powers allow him to create weapons and structures, freeze objects, travel across ice, and transform his body into ice.

Wareing’s comments do not confirm that Marvel is considering him for the role. The actor simply expressed his interest in playing the character. Marvel has also not announced the complete cast of its upcoming X-Men project.

Iceman has appeared in four X-Men films. Shawn Ashmore played Bobby Drake in all four films, beginning with X-Men in 2000. The character first appeared as a student at Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters.

Ashmore returned as Iceman in X2: X-Men United in 2003 and X-Men: The Last Stand in 2006. Bobby’s role grew in the X-Men as the original trilogy continued. The character returned in X-Men: Days of Future Past. The film showed an older Iceman fighting alongside other mutants against the Sentinels.

If Marvel brings Iceman into the MCU, the reboot would give the character a new live-action version after Shawn Ashmore’s four films.
