- Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell lead the cast of *The Madison*, the latest series from *Yellowstone* creator Taylor Sheridan.

- Matthew Fox,** **Beau Garrett, and Will Arnett round out the supporting cast.

- The first three episodes are now streaming on Paramount+.

**Warning: This article contains spoilers for the first episode of *The Madison*.**

City slickers embrace country living on *The Madison*, the latest Paramount+ series dreamt up by *Yellowstone* mastermind Taylor Sheridan.

The first three episodes premiered on March 14, combining the sweep of Montana with the energy of Manhattan for "a profound love story channeled through a deeply personal family drama about resilience and transformation."

Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell star as Stacy and Preston Clyburn, the heads of a New York City family with ties out west. But in a shocking twist, Russell's character dies in a plane crash with his brother (Matthew Fox) in the series' premiere, leaving a grieving Stacy to venture to Montana in order to identify their bodies and handle the sprawling property they left behind.

"When you have grown up with someone and you're so entangled with each other, after a while, you don't really even know where you end and the other person begins," Pfeiffer told * *for our cover story. "How do you even start to imagine your life without them and rebuild when everything you knew has fallen apart?"

With that sentiment in mind, here's everything to know about the cast of *The Madison* — and where you've seen them before.

After breaking out with the one-two punch of *Grease 2* (1982) and *Scarface* (1983), Michelle Pfeiffer went on to work with acclaimed filmmakers such as George Miller (*The Witches of Eastwick*), Jonathan Demme (*Married to the Mob*), Martin Scorsese (*The Age of Innocence*), and Tim Burton (*Batman Returns*), among many others.

She's earned three Oscar nominations — for *Dangerous Liaisons* (1988), *The Fabulous Baker Boys* (1989), and Love Field (1992) — and an Emmy nomination for 2017's *The Wizard of Lies*.

In recent years, she joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Janet Van Dyne in *Ant-Man and the Wasp* (2018) and *Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania* (2023). Next up is a starring role opposite Nicole Kidman in the David E. Kelley series *Margo's Got Money Troubles*.**

Pfeiffer leads *The Madison* as Stacy Clyburn, the matriarch of a well-to-do New York City family who's grieving upon her move to the Madison River valley.

""For a brief amount of time, all that really matters is connection with other human beings," she told EW about coping with loss. "I remember feeling it a couple of times in my life when I suffered losing someone who was meaningful to me. I remember thinking, 'Oh my God, how can I hold on to this?' It felt so good and so real and authentic and safe…. And in a weird way, it was relaxing, because I wasn't busy just trying to make things happen. You just stop all that."**

Kurt Russell as Preston Clyburn

Kurt Russell is Hollywood royalty, having gone from a child star in Disney flicks like *The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes* (1969) to a genre icon renowned for his work with John Carpenter (*The Thing, Escape from New York, Big Trouble in Little China*) and Quentin Tarantino (*Deathproof, The Hateful Eight*).

The actor, who has Emmy and Golden Globe nominations under his belt, has appeared in some of the most popular franchises of this century, including *Fast & Furious* (2015–2021), *Guardians of the Galaxy* (2017), and the Monsterverse, in which he acts alongside his son, Wyatt Russell, on Apple TV's *Monarch: Legacy of Monsters* (2023–present).

His commitment to Monarch nearly resulted in him passing on *The Madison*, the actor revealed to EW.**

"I did the second season of *Monarch [Legacy of Monsters]*, the Apple TV show, and unfortunately for me, the timing was when *Madison* came around,” Russell explained. “And I said, ‘There's just no way to do it,’ because I was working on this show.”

The solution, Russell told us, was to split *The Madison'*s first season into two, which allowed him to work it into his packed schedule.

Russell's character, Preston Clyburn, is Stacy's husband and a natural outdoorsman who dies unexpectedly in the first episode, drawing his family to Montana in his wake.**

"I think one of the scariest things about it that I've learned over my life is when someone dies… Life just goes on," Russell told EW. "It's always a few people that know about it, and to those few people, it's very important. But it's not to the rest. It's beyond humbling."

Matthew Fox as Paul Clyburn

Matthew Fox has a pair of iconic roles in his rearview: Charlie Salinger on *Party of Five* (1994–2000) and Jack Shephard on *Lost* (2004–2010), the latter of which earned him Emmy and Golden Globe nominations.

Fox went on to star with Russell in S. Craig Zahler's cult hit *Bone Tomahawk* (2015), as well as series such as *Last Light* (2022) and *Caught* (2023).

Fox plays Paul Clyburn, Preston's brother and a "self-reliant bachelor who loves the outdoors." He and Preston, having found success in their careers, are thrilled to live in the great wide open.

“This little piece of heaven … it just means everything to them,” Russell told *Town & Country* of the brothers, who die together in the Montana plane crash. “He goes out there to experience that with his brother as often as he can. It's really where his heart is.”**

Elle Chapman as Paige McIntosh

She plays Stacy and Preston's daughter, Paige, who's described as a "somewhat self-centered woman who indulges in a luxurious New York lifestyle provided by her parents and husband." She's distraught after her father's death and reluctant to call Montana home.

"Love this beautiful story and love all the people who helped tell it," Chapman said in an Instagram post promoting the series.**

On *The Madison*, Adams plays a fish out of water as investment banker Russell McIntosh, Paige's husband whom Adams says isn't particularly comfortable outside of the big city.

"He's probably the least Taylor Sheridan character you can imagine," Adams said of Russell in a red carpet interview. "He is so out of his element in this environment in which Taylor's shows are all set. And that was a real attraction for me, I thought, *Oh, that's something I can do something with*."**

Beau Garrett as Abigail Reese

Most recently, Garrett starred with Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke as Cloud on Netflix's *Firefly Lane *(2021–2023).

Here, she plays Abigail Reese, the oldest daughter of Stacy and Preston. The recently divorced mother of two is described as a “resilient and sardonic New Yorker."

"Two years behind the making of this beautiful story," Garrett said on Instagram. "There has been no better experience for me, than under the wide sky of Montana dancing with this crew, this cast, these words and this place. We are all so excited to share it with you."**

Zegers costars as Cade Harris, a neighbor of the Clyburns whom the actor called "a good man" and a friend to Pfeiffer's Stacy. He added, "He's not judgmental. It would be every easy in this world to see these crazy, uppity New Yorkers come into town, but he takes them for what they are."**
