Olivia Newton-John and John Easterling were hopelessly devoted to each other.
When the Australian icon died from breast cancer in 2022, she left behind her husband, Easterling. The two first met through a friend in the '90s, but didn't start dating until 15 years later. They went public with their relationship in 2007, marrying the following year.
"Olivia and I had a love so big and so indefinite in time," Easterling told PEOPLE in September 2024, reflecting on their romance. "We embraced it as something even bigger than ourselves. We never had any petty arguments or anything like that. I mean, our whole life experience and the things that we shared and believed in were just too important."
He continued, "I didn't even think love could be like that."
A new biography, A Little More Love: The Life and Legacy of Olivia Newton-John, hits shelves on May 14 and looks back at the life and relationships of the Grease star, including her years spent with Easterling.

Newton-John and Easterling started dating in 2007, and got married in 2008 — in two different ceremonies.
The first was an Incan spiritual ceremony on June 21, held at the top of a mountain outside of Peru. Only the bride and groom were present for the vow exchange, but then the couple made it legal later that month, when they got married during a beachfront wedding on Florida's Jupiter Island on June 30.
They kept their wedding a secret from everyone except Newton-John's daughter, Chloe Lattanzi. The couple shared the happy news of their marriage with family and friends at a July 4 barbecue at their home in Malibu.
“My family was surprised,” Olivia told PEOPLE about their ceremony in Peru. “But my daughter knew — I told my daughter.”
She continued, "It was the one thing I could keep private. That's how we wanted it, because my life is so public."
In late 2023, Easterling brought Newton-John's ashes with him to the spot in Peru where they held their private ceremony years earlier, commemorating what would have been their 15th wedding anniversary.

He and Newton-John's daughter, Lattanzi, lead the annual Olivia's Walk for Wellness in Melbourne. The event raises funds for the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre and for cancer research through the foundation.
"I'm staying very busy with the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund and the research that's going on there," he told PEOPLE in September 2024. "We're sponsoring plant medicine and cancer research. And the beauty of that is that we're seeing quite stunning results in the early stages."

It's been nearly four years since Newton-John's death, but Easterling has continued to honor his late wife.
In August 2022, he penned an emotional tribute to her on Instagram, writing, "Olivia, our love for each other transcends our understanding. Every day we expressed our gratitude for this love that could be so deep, so real, so natural."
He continued, "We never had to 'work' on it. We were in awe of this great mystery and accepted the experience of our love as past, present and forever."
In February 2023, he spoke about the state memorial for Newton-John in Australia, where he shared the sweet stories of when they got engaged and the first time he saw her perform.
"People around me were crying, and I got it," he recalled. "It hit me like a laser beam in the chest, that Olivia was a healer. And this is one of her mediums of healing."
